On August 21, 2017, a “not to be missed” event will be occurring. It is one of nature’s most miraculous displays — a total eclipse of the Sun. The moon will completely block the Sun and day will become night. For a total eclipse to take place, the sun, moon and Earth must be in total alignment with each other. The United States will experience the 2017 Solar Eclipse, its first total solar eclipse since the year 1979. Once you have witnessed a total solar eclipse, the experience will last with you for a long time. It’s a memory you surely do not want to miss.

Your Eyes are Important

Observing the Sun can be very dangerous if you do not take the proper precautions. Mainly, the concern over viewing the Sun during an eclipse without proper eye protection is called "eclipse blindness". When a person looks repeatedly at the Sun without proper protection for the eyes, retinal damage may occur. The danger to vision is significant. The only way to safely view the 2017 Solar Eclipse is with eclipse viewing glasses that filter out 100% of harmful ultra-violet light. Purchasing the correct eyewear to watch a solar eclipse is very important. Your regular sunglasses do not provide sufficient defense from the intense rays when the moon passes over the sun. American Paper Optics, LLC has independently tested and ISO/CE certified glasses that are the standard for the safest direct solar viewing.

The Great American Eclipse is Coming

If you have never experienced an eclipse, the event will start off something like this. You may be experiencing a beautiful bright and sunny day and then at some point, you will notice that things seem a little dimmer. And then it will almost seem like some big storm is brewing. Then, all of a sudden, and without any warning, the day will turns to dark; causing the birds and the animals to become confused thinking it is time for sleep as the night insects and stars start to come out. There will be a glow like some kind of irregular sunset as the sun is replaced by a dark black circle and a softly glowing halo.

Just remember, to witness nature’s outstanding sky event safely – the 2017 Solar Eclipse – you should most definitely wear your American Paper Optics, LLC eclipse glasses!
